Does William Shatner want to play the part of Jim Kirk again?Yes! William Shatner has stated as such in many interviews. Given the opportunity by Paramount, the owner of the Star Trek property, he would reprise his role as the international icon, Captain James T. Kirk. What about the rest of the Classic Trek crew members?Although we love the other members of the Classic Trek cast, the main focus of this movement is to bring back Jim Kirk for one last adventure and allow him to ride off into the sunset. At this time, we're not campaigning to bring back any other character, mainly due to the fact that they've been relatively untouched and, certainly, not "killed" like Kirk has. If other Classic Trek cast members come back in the process of bringing back Kirk, however, so much the better! How do I become a member of the campaign?Do you wish for Kirk to be brought back for a more classy finale? Then you are already a member! To help make this possible, however, you must write letterswhich is very importantat the pre-designated times (or on your own, it's up to you!) or distribute our media. What can I do to help "Bring Back Kirk"?Simple: Write Letters, Distribute Flyers, and Spread the Word! I thought Captain Kirk is alive in novels? It's true... Captain Kirk IS alive in William Shatner's novels, which are greatly appreciated by those of us who have had the pleasure of reading them. RememberWilliam Shatner had to be approved the rights by Paramount to write these novels which carry on the legend of Captain Kirk... and here's the kicker, so-to-speakthe novels are all best sellers! Hmmm... what does that tell us? These novels, as wonderful as they are, are not the same as having Kirk officially brought back on screen. That is the goal of the campaign. Many of us would also be happy if Paramount designated these novels as part of the official Star Trek canon. Write your letters and let's see if Paramount will publicly admit that James T. Kirk did not die in Generations! What was wrong with Kirk's death in the first place? It is the belief of this movement that Kirk's death served no coherent purpose to the movie and his death was needless and worth little to the story. This is not in the spirit of Star Trek. Thus, it has been the belief that Kirk's valueless death was nothing more than a gimmick to merchandise Star Trek Generations. Would Shatner's age and weight prevent Shatner's Kirk from being brought back? One of the fundamental themes of the Star Trek universe is that weight, sex, or age are not issues. Sadly, there are those that have not taken this to heart. William Shatner can reprise the role of Jim Kirk. In fact, his stint in Star Trek Generations happened to be his most physically demanding role to date. Also, weight and age have little factor in it... we're interested in seeing how Kirk deals with his age. We know that Kirk won't be able to do everything he did while he was young. The measure of Star Trek's human characters is the way that they deal with thingsincluding age. Two of the most acclaimed Star Trek films ever made did not have Kirk doing flying leg-kicks or other such things: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. This is the Jim Kirk we'd love to see again, and this is the Jim Kirk we can see again. Is the movement a TOS- and Kirk-fans only club? The BBK is open to all fans of ANY Star Trek series! If you wish to help correct what happened to Kirk in Star Trek Generations, then you are already part of the BBK movement! Why doesn't my country have an official BBK home page?Probably because no one from your country has contacted us yet! We would love to have BBK officials and official sites in your country! We realize that being an official may take a portion of your time, as well as talking to people and giving the movement representation in your country. Being a responsible official is both somewhat daunting but quite rewarding as well. If you are interested, contact the BBK officials! |
